At the travel destination, "I can only eat here!" Or, "I'm selling only here!" When you hear that, you will naturally be interested in it. So this time, the only thing in the whole country, "a valuable experience that can only be done here!" So, I visited Ryuzen Shuri in Naha City and went to a "coral dyeing experience"!
Anyone can participate very easily, so please refer to it as an experience during your trip to Okinawa.

[Step 1] First of all, let's choose your favorite item to dye!

The second floor of Shuri Ryuzen's store near Shurijo Castle Park in Naha City was the experience venue, and when I climbed the stairs, dyeing items were displayed. First of all, I choose from four things: T-shirt, tote bag, small furoshiki, and tenugui, which is quite difficult (laughs). Do you choose for yourself or for a gift?…。 After a while of trouble, I chose "small furoshiki" as a present to my mother for the first time.
I'll do my best to complete it so that my mother likes it!

[Step 2] Precious "coral fossils" about 40 years ago

Fossils of various large and small corals were prepared on the desk to experience. In fact, it is forbidden to collect and capture corals for about 40 years. It is now a valuable craft experience that can only be done by "Shuri Ryuzen", which is registered as a trademark and design as a unique dyeing technique using coral fossils 40 years ago.
The coral pattern also varies depending on the fossil, so if the coral pattern you like is on the desk of the next group, it seems that it is OK to lend and borrow a voice.
About 25cm in diameter! There is also a huge coral that seems to be like that, and some people dye the T-shirt with a big dodo. In addition to coral fossils, there are also types such as fish, Shisa, and hibiscus, so children can enjoy the experience.

After receiving a careful explanation from the staff on how to handle and dye plant dyes, it's time to start the experience!

[Step 3] Sense is questioned! Dyeing experience of pounding

There are only three tools to use: 1. coral fossils, 2. dye, and 3. dandelion dyeing tools. There are four colors of dyes: red, yellow, blue, and purple, and you can make various colors depending on how these colors are combined. Looking at the exhibits finished by the staff, I imagine the design I want to make, but this is difficult to decide, and it is the first difficulty.
I'm worried that my sense will be questioned by the color scheme and arrangement design, but first I started using my favorite coral pattern and favorite color.

At first, I dyed slowly and slowly using a scary small coral, but as I got used to it, the speed of dyeing became faster, probably because the finished image was created! The group in the next seat was a large family, but younger children were also crazy about dyeing.
Finally, using huge coral fossils, the mood is a craftsman!

[Step 4] Only one in the world! Completed the original work!

The original furoshiki, which was dyed while having fun for about 40 minutes, has been completed! ! !
There are some points to reflect on whether it was better to dye a little darker, but overall, for the first time, it's a good finish (laughs). If you think that it is only one work in your own world, you will have an attachment.
This time I will give it to my mother, but next time I would like to try a T-shirt for myself!

[Dyeing craftsman] You can see the dyeing work of craftsmen in the workshop on the 3rd floor!

After the coral dyeing experience, I went up the 3rd floor of the workshop and the craftsman was just working. As expected to dye the beautiful silk fabric skillfully, I was watching it for a while with craftsmanship! It is a very beautiful finish with blue and purple dyes as the main color and yellow in the insertion color.
※Of course, it's completely different from my own original work (laughs).

It seems that the dyeing design is decided to some extent from a number of patterns, and the product in the photo is a silk stole, so it seems that the pattern is designed so that the pattern can be seen firmly when wrapped.

At the sales booth on the first floor of the workshop, various products such as coral-dyed tapestry and folding fans are displayed. There are also affordable products such as shush, so please take a look at the sales booth after the experience.

Of course, it seems to be popular not only with group customers but also with one person, and women's travel alone enjoyed this day too.
It is not affected by the weather, so be sure to try the "experiences that can only be done here" that you can feel free to do!
