The popular "Uchina Bento" in Okinawa is synonymous with a reasonable lunch handmade by a local lunch shop! It is a reasonable price starting from about 400 yen, and you can enjoy hearty side dishes such as tonkatsu, chicken cutlet, and goya champloo unique to Okinawa. The ease that you can easily buy in the city or near the workplace is also attractive. It is perfect for wanting to enjoy the local taste casually for lunch on a trip to Okinawa.

Cheap, easy and delicious lunch
Uchina-bento is, of course, a lunch box manufactured and sold in Okinawa, but in terms of nuances, local lunch boxes other than those sold at mainland lunch chains, supermarkets, convenience stores, etc. Refers to what is handmade and sold by a shop.
When you walk or drive around the city, you often see lunch boxes, especially near lunchtime. These shops can be said to support the lunchtime of Okinawan people considerably. In fact, at noon, many people stop by taxi drivers, people who work outdoors, and neighbors to buy lunch boxes.
What's surprising is that you can often see lunch boxes standing up and selling them near buildings where companies etc. are located. Not only that, but also in government offices, large hospitals, construction sites, etc., business trip lunch boxes have opened stores. If you come close, it saves you the trouble and time of going to buy, and it is very helpful.
Of course, this is not the only reason for the popularity of Uchina-bento. The biggest factor is cheap. The price is about 400 to 450 yen. Considering the price of 600 yen for Okinawa soba and 650 yen for Goya Champloo, it's about 30% reasonable. This is enough for men who work hard. If it's small, it's about 350 yen, and if you're a woman, you'll be full.
A ragged side dish that goes on top of rice
Well, it's important, but the side dishes are very fulfilling. Meats include tonkatsu, chicken cutlet, karaage, hamburger, grilled meat, raftee, etc. Fish are fried white meat, glukun, saury, salted mackerel, etc. It seems that there is a lot of fried food because it is hard to damage.
In addition, tofu champloo, vegetable champloo, and bitter gourd champloo depending on the season are also available. In addition to these leading roles, carrot silysyly, seasonings, fried eggs, boiled hijiki, yakisoba, pickles, and amdance (fried miso with three pork meats and other fried miso). There are also a wide variety of supporting roles, such as Okinawan rice friend, also known as oil miso.
It is one of the features of the lunch box that these side dishes are on rice. Normally, separate is fundamental, but if you divide it, you probably won't fit in the lunch box. I'm not sure if it's the reason, but the side dish's power to cover the rice anyway is amazing.
In addition, there are some shops that offer 100 yen soba. It is Okinawa soba, which is the perfect size and price for a lunch box, and of course it can be purchased alone. Even so, if you flatten both the lunch box and the 100 yen soba, you will be full enough to have dinner. It's about 550 yen even if it's expensive, so the cost performance is extremely high.
For the next trip to Okinawa, it would be nice to buy a lunch box and have lunch at the sea or beach. I think you can have a different time.
