Characteristics of the Kerama Islands

Located in the sea area of about 40 km west of Naha City, it consists of more than 20 large and small islands, it was recognized as the 31st national park in 2014.

The currents called the Kuroshio Current flows around the area, and there are few rivers, so the highly transparent sea called "Kerama Blue" is spreading.

It is also a spawning site for sea turtles and breeding grounds for humpback whale. It is a popular sea area for divers where about 200 types of corals inhabit and many colorful fish inhabiting corals.
