Speaking of remote islands in Okinawa, Ishigaki-jima Island and Miyako Island are famous, but do you know the remote islands that can be easily reached by ferry from Motojima?
I want to go to sightseeing spots in Motojima, but I want to enjoy the sea of remote islands because it's a great deal! I would like to introduce the 7 islands that are recommended for Bari-san who thinks that it is!
This time, it is a remote island departing from Tomarin (Tomari Port) in Naha, which has good access, so day trips are also possible! Please refer to your travel plan.

1. Tokashiki Island is one of the world's top-class transparent seas.

First, I would like to introduce Tokashiki Island, which is the closest manned island to Naha.
Located about 30 km west of Naha at the eastern end of the Kerama Islands, it takes about 40 minutes one way from Tomarin (Tomari Port) by high-speed boat.
It is said to be one of the world's leading diving spots, and many divers are fascinated by the highly transparent sea called "Kerama Blue".

Not only can you dive throughout the year, but from May to October is the best season for swimming, so you can still enjoy snorkeling! Some beaches have a high sea turtle encounter rate, so why not swim together and take pictures?
By the way, in October, the island's largest festival "Tokashiki Festival" will be held, and from January to March, humpback whale whale watching is also impressive!

2. Wins two stars with the Michelin Green Guide "Zamami Island"

Next is Zamami Island, which is located approximately 40 km west of Naha, almost in the center of the Kerama Islands. This is also close to about 50 minutes by high-speed boat from Naha, and is popular as an island that can be easily reached.
Known as one of the most vibrant spots among the inhabited islands in the islands, the sea with a beautiful contrast between pure white Coral Sand and the ever-transparent blue has won two stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan.

Swim just a few meters from the shore, you can sway with colorful tropical fish. There are Ama Beach where you can meet sea turtles, and other facilities such as campsites and observation deck!

3. Akajima Island, an island where the natural monument Kerama Zika lives.

It takes about 70 minutes to Akajima by high-speed boat from Naha. At Akajima's male dog "Shiro Statue", which became famous for the movie "I want to meet Marilyn", and at the "National Park Visitor Center Sango Yuntakukan", which opened on March 5, 2018 (Coral Day), various materials related to coral are on display, and you can learn about the ecology of coral, island activities, traditions, etc.
If you're lucky, you may be able to meet the natural monument Kerama Zika around the Visitor Center! ?

4. Agena Shikishima is the number one sea in the Kerama Islands.

Next is an introduction of "Agena Shikishima", an uninhabited island that should be visited if you come to Zamami. The transparency of the sea is Agena-Shiki Island, which boasts the number one level in the Kerama Islands.
About 10 minutes by uninhabited island ferry departing and arriving from Zamami Port, it is no doubt that you will be impressed by the blue sea with excellent transparency and white sandy beach! !
It's also a popular spot for snorkeling, and countless fish and colorful coral reefs will welcome you.

Agena Shikishima is an uninhabited island, so don't forget to prepare food and drinks at Zamami Island's only supermarket "105 Stores" in advance! It may be better to rent a parasol because the sun is strong and there is no shade.

5. 90% are migratory bird! Aguni Island, a treasure trove of wild birds

Awakuni Island is located about 60 km northwest of Naha, and is a small island with an outer circumference of about 12 km. It takes about 2 hours, one round trip per day by ferry from Naha.

Blessed with abundant nature and the entire island is designated as a prefectural wildlife sanctuary, 220 species of wild birds have been observed so far, of which more than 90% are migratory bird.
It's a treasure trove of wild birds, and it's a great island for bird watching, as diverse migratory birds come to fly in search of rest.

"Yahija Beach" is a scenic spot that can only be seen here in Okinawa, such as the layers of red and the cliffs of white tuff, which clearly show that Awakuni Island is an island made of volcanic activity.
Please experience the charm of nature unique to Awakuni Island.

※Ferry tickets for Awakuni Island will be purchased on the day at the boarding ticket counter in Tomarin.

6. Kumejima Island is an island surrounded by coral reefs with a beautiful starry sky.

Kume Island is a "Kumi Island" surrounded by emerald blue sea and coral reefs.
Located 100 km west of Naha, it takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes by ferry from Naha. You can go by airplane, but you can feel the beautiful sea and wind by boat, and it is also recommended that you travel while enjoying the scenery at a reasonable price.

"Hate no Hama" is said to be the most beautiful sandy beach in the East, floating about 25 minutes off the coast of Kumejima Island from Tomari Fishharina in Kumejima Town. The contrast between the pure white sandy beach extending about 7 km in length, the emerald green sea and the blue sky is beautiful, and the scenery beyond the excitement spreads.

In addition, "Uejo Castle Ruins" is located at the summit of Mt. Uejo at an altitude of 310m on Kume Island, and is said to be the castle ruins built at the highest altitude in Okinawa Prefecture. The panorama overlooking the entire Kumejima 360 degrees from the summit of Uejo Castle Ruins is a breathtaking masterpiece!

7. Tonaki Island, where the original scenery of Okinawa still remains.

Tonaki Island is located 58 km northwest of Naha and can be reached in about 2 hours by taking the same boat as the ferry from Tomarin to Kumejima. Tonaki Island is one of the few areas in Okinawa with few tourists and the original scenery of Okinawa remains. The entire island was selected as Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in 2000.

A traditional house with lush Fukugi, white sand paths and red tile roofs. For more than 100 years, Fukugi has protected the houses of Tonaki Island as a countermeasure against wind. There is an emotional landscape where you can feel the traditional life of life.

[Extra] One-day tour of Naganne Island, the closest island to Naha

As an extra edition, we will introduce an uninhabited island, Nagannu Island, which is about 20 minutes from Tomarin and perfect for day trips according to schedule!

The Chibishi Atoll, located at the entrance of the Kerama Islands, is located about 15 km west of Naha. Chibishi Atoll consists of three islands: Naganne, Kuev, and Kamiyama, and the largest island is Naganne. The island is made of Coral Sand made of coral and shells, and the waters around the island are widely surrounded by coral reef, making it an ideal island for swimming and marine activities.

In addition to activities such as parasailing and banana boating, there are also plans to enjoy snorkeling with instructors and BBQ lunch.
There is also a plan just to go to the island, so it is one of the attractions that you can combine options and enjoy each one!
