In August, summer performance! Isn't there a lot of people who say "the sea for the time being when we arrive in Okinawa"? Of course, that's one of the ways to enjoy, but be sure to look at the events that are being held at the same time. There are plenty of events where you can experience the summer unique to Okinawa, such as enjoying lively exchanges with local people, watching traditional performing arts that will become hot, and watching the beautiful starry sky! So, this time, I would like to introduce four recommended events when traveling to Okinawa.

You're in front of you. 10,000 Eisa folk dance Dance Company 2023

The 10,000 Eisa folk dance Dance Corps is the largest Eisa folk dance festival in the prefecture. It is held every August at Kokusai Dori, a tourist spot in Naha City.
Eisa folk dance, which has inherited traditional traditions, and Eisa folk dance, which incorporates the latest music and dance, is a powerful performance! The brave dance makes the summer of Okinawa even more exciting.
And when it comes to Eisa folk dance, one of the charms is the light sound of percussion instrument named Perlancow and the heavy humble sound by large Wadaiko! The sound that resonates with the heart is unique to Eisa folk dance. In addition, the finger flute that resonates with the sound is a good accent, adding gorgeousness to Eisa folk dance. Listening to these sounds is one of the ways to enjoy the Eisa folk dance event.

If you look up, there is a star festival 2023 on the island south of the starry sky.

"South Island Star Festival" is a star-themed event held in Ishigaki-jima Island. Every year during the Tanabata season of old calendar, various events are held at every spot.
The attraction of this event is that you can see the beautiful stars that color the crystal clear sky unique to remote islands. On the first day of the event, “Whole Island Light Down” will be held with the cooperation of the people of the island. By turning off the lights that usually light the city only at the time of the event, you can see the stars blinking in the night sky more clearly.
Ishigaki-jima Island is at 24 degrees 20 minutes north latitude near the equator. Therefore, if you look up at the night sky in Ishigaki-jima Island, you can see 84 of the 88 constellations. The sights of them floating in the sky nail the viewer. Please spend a relaxing time listening to the constellation commentary by the starry sky guide, episodes related to stars, and the performances and singing voices of the artists.
In addition, various types of entertainment are scheduled to be held, including the Astronomical Observatory and the Planetarium. Why don't you experience a different summer in Okinawa under the beautiful starry sky?

※The program is different every year, so please check the official website for details.

A 90-meter general rule appears from all over the town! The powerful Yonabaru Tug of War

One of the three Okinawa tug-of-war, the Yonabaru Tug-of-war, is a historical event that lasts for more than 440 years. The ropes are assigned to each ward for both male and females, and are knitted by local people. When both ropes are combined, weigh 5 tons, the length is 90 meters and the Osako power.
Starting from the east and west villages where a young man called preparation rides on each rope, the rope carried by the shout of "Sir" gradually approaches both the sound of conch and drums. As soon as the two ropes were inserted into the gap between the two ropes, the rope was knocked down to the ground and tug of war started at once! It is said that the kanji of "Hiki" is used not simply "twling", but from pulling the rope up and down and hitting the ground while pulling it.
Anyone can participate in tug of war, so why don't you sweat hot to commemorate your trip to Okinawa?

A traditional performance that shakes the soul! The All-Okinawa Eisa Festival

The Okinawa All Island Eisa Festival is one of the prefecture's best Eisa folk dance festivals held every year at the end of the old Bon Festival.
On the first day, the Eisa folk dance group will form a platoon around the city, and on the second day, the Okinawa City Youth Festival, where youth groups from Okinawa City, the home of Eisa folk dance, come together.
On the last day, a selection of groups from all over Motojima gathered to showcase their unique Eisa folk dance. In the finale's Kachassie, the audience also swells into the venue, and fireworks and laser shows color the night sky.
This festival is said to have the highest heat of performers even today because it was a contest format at the start of 1956. It is attractive to have a lively performance with the traditions and pride of each region.
In addition to the traditional Eisa folk dance, various groups such as "Creative Eisa folk dance" and "Children's Eisa folk dance" by local children are excited about the festival.
From the second day, "Orion Beer Fest" will be held at the Sports Park Subground. While tasting fresh beer, try to get drunk with the magnificent drums and splendid dances.
