The number of fashionable restaurants such as cafes is increasing in Okinawa, especially attracting female customers.
On the other hand, although the number has decreased, the restaurant is still popular from the local community.

Even if it is not as fashionable as a cafe, this one retains the traditional Okinawan style and some are delicious. Please know the trivia of such a cafeteria and try to find your favorite cafeteria.

I would be happy if the iced tea was free!

All-you-can-drink iced tea in the pitcher

In terms of old-fashionedness, there are many shops that offer iced tea free of charge in addition to tea and water. This makes me feel like I've got it.

It is characterized by a sweet finish with syrup already. Depending on the store, you can add sugar if you like.
There are also shops that are open 24 hours a day. It may be somewhat uncomfortable that the restaurant is open 24 hours a day, but it can be said that it plays a somewhat izakaya role with the awamori keep bottle on the shelf. Some customers may have a light drink while eating.

The menu name is unique to Okinawa

By the way, this is not necessarily Okinawan, but it seems that there are many cafeterias with meal ticket vending machines. If you just eat it, you will save time and effort on both the customer side and the store side, so in a sense it is rational!

What is a side dish? What do you mean to have two miso soups?

The Okinawan character in the cafeteria appears most on the menu. Of course, the food itself has a mysterious name and the content of the dish.

For example, a menu called "Okazu". I don't know what kind of food I've seen for the first time. Actually, this is stir-fried vegetables. In the old cafeteria, there were shops with only two types of menus, such as "Soba Dai / Small" and "Okazu". It may have been an appeal that there are side dishes other than noodles.

Champon is characterized by a slightly sweet broth like Oyakodon.

On the other hand, "Champon" is always popular. This is the stir-fried vegetables with eggs and placed on rice. It's completely different from Nagasaki Champon, so I ordered it with the intention of cooking noodles and don't be surprised to see "Egg-to-dried vegetables fried rice"!

A standard restaurant menu item with a lot of miso soup rice

And the best menu of Okinawa's uniqueness is "Miso soup". "Where is it?" It may be said that it is normal, "but its position is like Okinawa. Speaking of ordinary miso soup, there is something that refrains from the side of the main dish. However, in Okinawa, it is not a supporting role, but a leading role.
Okinawa-style miso soup comes out with a bowl, and the contents are pork, island tofu, leaf vegetables (some shops have lettuce), and one egg. In addition, pork (luncheon meat) may be included. Even though it is soup, if you have such a lot of ingredients, it will be a fine main dish.
Therefore, the menu called miso soup is a set meal and comes with rice. Please note that if you do not know it and misunderstand that it is a single item and order "miso soup and rice", you will not have to come out two rices.

That's why the restaurant still retains a deep taste. If you haven't yet, please come and visit us.
