I saw [Ryukyu dynasty picture scroll procession] held the other day at Kokusai Dori Street.
This event is held every year around 11/3 (Culture Day), which is often known by Okinawa lovers, and this year 2023 was the first revival in four years.

A total of 400 people is amazing!

The Ryukyu dynasty picture scroll procession, which reproduces the gorgeous scenery of Kingdom of ryukyu as a large picture scroll procession, has a total of 400 participants, including the king and queen, wearing colorful costumes such as Sanshin and Ryukyu dance, to walk around Kokusai Dori Street. About half, 180 people, were selected by public recruitment. The king and queen were also recruited every year.

The appearance of the glittering procession proceeding with Ryukyu classical music is truly a masterpiece! That's right. I was able to experience the excitement as if I had slipped back in time during the dynasty period.

Shuri Castle Restoration Festival

■Ancient Procession [Ryukyu Dynasty Festival Shuri]…Depart from Shuri Castle Park and parade under Shuri Castle.

Date and time: November 3, 2025 (Mon./holiday) 12:50-15:30

Location: Shurijo Park Hojinmon - Shureimon - Ryutan-dori Street

Traffic regulation: Yamakawa Intersection - Toribori Intersection 12:30-20:00 (Yamakawa Intersection - Tokura Intersection is until 18:00)

■King, King, and Queen…The king and queen dressed in vivid costumes appear in front of Hoshinmon.

Date and time: Saturday, November 1, 2025 1 10:00-2 11:00-3 12:00-(about 10 minutes each time)

Location: Hojinmon-mae

■Ryukyu dynasty picture scroll procession…The gorgeous appearance of the Ryukyu dynasty period is reproduced as a large picture scroll procession.

Date and time: Sunday, November 2, 2023 12:30 to 14:30

Location: Kokusai Dori Street, Naha City (Traffic regulation time: 12:00 to 15:00)
